'Young Love'

I think this might be one of the cutest things ever! Young Gracie (age 3) and Zeke (age 4) are in love. So cute. What if they grow up and marry?? OK, I know they are still so young, but still, that would be the cutest. Photos by the lovely and talented Joy of Wildflowers Photography. Gracie is Joy’s daughter – what a wonderful keepsake for Gracie to remember her first love! Joy was also sweet enough to send some notes about Gracie, Zeke and the shoot. Hope you are having a lovely weekend!

Gracie’s dress is a custom made replication of a woman’s vintage-inspired Anthropologie dress and her accessories are all from JCrew. It was made by Lullaby Birds. The matching converse shoes:  Zeke gave her his own pair of chucks when he outgrew his and then had his mama buy him the exact same ones so that him and Gracie could always match. How precious is that??!

The paper flowers were made from a rad kit from Paper Source called “Vintage Blooms”. Crowns are soooo rad! They are made of paper and are so lovely in person. I bought them from an antique store.

Smart students have a well-patterned study skills, starting up in lectures. Here are the top 10 tips in how to be the smart ones in lectures – getting the most out of classroom time.

Tip # 1: Come prepared – preview the chapter first before going into the lecture, this is the main difference between A’s and B’s.

Tip #2: Keep the questioning mind – as you preview the chapter, come up a list of questions. Try to find answers to those questions during lectures. Also write down the questions on the instructor’s lecture as it goes.

Tip #3: Write your lecture notes after – Take brief notes during lectures and complete them soon after class when it’s still fresh in memory.

How To Be Smart Student

Everyone hope to be a smart student but not many can do it. Therefore i wrote this article to help those who wanted to be a smart student.

Who is a smart student and how to be one of them?

Smart students are student who are considered better than the other students. They are also said to have better brains and some say they are clever. I can say that this is not the fact as everyone begin from nothing when they were delivered to the world.

Therefore everyone can be a smart student if you work for it. But the question is how to be one of them? This is one of the most common questions asked but not many people knew the answer. The only way to be a smart student is by studying using visual. An experiment had been conducted and it is prove that a human can remember visual better than words. Therefore, we should always use different visual such as pictures.

On top of that, we must also always repeat our studied subject for many times, at least 45-50 times. This may sound impossible to be heard but it can be done easily if you constantly do it. It may used up a lot of time the first time you read it but the time will shorten when you do it the second time. When you repeat it for many times, you will see that you only need a short amount of time to finish reading it. By that time, you will be able to answer most of the question which is similar to the notes you read.

Next, you must also do more exercise. Exercises are important as it will show you the different ways of how a question could be asked. You will be able to see how a question could be twisted and you will face no problem in your examination later. As the saying goes, practice make perfect.

Finally you should also ask when you don’t understand something. Never feel shy or hesitate to ask your teacher or friends when you encounter problems in your studies as it will kill you. It is better to learn now so that you won’t have problem in the future. Remember, early birds catch the worm.

The Westie doesn’t care if dog toys are green, purple, read or blue. Westie wants something chewable, easily portable or make a sound like a rat. We are introducing dog toys that Westies like. There are several types of dog toys.

Kong dog toy is a trade name for a toy made of a hard rubber material, roughly shaped like a pyramid. It is a well constructed toy which lasts very well and supplies hours of fun. The shape causes the toy to bounce and roll in unpredictable directions, adding to its interest. Being strong, it can stand a lot of chewing. There is a hole in the center which can hold treats such as a bit of cheese whiz or peanut butter. Kong dog toys come in several sizes. The smallest is ideal for puppies, the mid-size for adult Westies. Some Kongs float, some come with rope attached. They are found in pet stores, at veterinarians, and some department stores. The Westie size cost ranges from $10 to $15 each. These dog toys can stand being left outside all winter, even in Saskatchewan. There are also some inferior look-alikes on the market which will not last as well.

Once you have got your Golden Retriever, it is important to train him. Your Golden Retriever should be trained and mannered properly, so that your Golden Retriever easily fits into your home.

To begin with, when you train your golden retriever, you should allow your golden retriever restricted freedom. Your golden retriever will have to work really hard to get used to you, your family and your surroundings. It would be appropriate not to encourage any bad habits.

Do remember that once dogs get used to bad habits, it becomes really difficult to alter them. If you begin to apply rules when your golden retriever is young, he will easily fit into the routine and the rules that you would like him to follow.

Secondly, confine your Golden Retriever. Ideally, your Golden Retriever should not be allowed free movement around the house or the yard. If your Golden Retriever steps out of the house or the crate, keep a close watch on your Golden Retriever and his/her actions.

Chances are that your Golden Retriever would inculcate bad habits if you do not manage to keep a watchful eye on him. For example, if your Golden Retriever has once relieved himself on the floor or elsewhere inside the house, he would stick to the same area.

Dogs usually use their sense of smell, and keep relieving themselves in the same area. If you do not correct YourGolden Retriever initially, your Golden Retriever will become tougher at a later stage.

You also need to ensure that your golden retriever is following routine regarding the crate. It is better if he is not allowed to spend time outside his crate. This is one of the most important rules of housebreaking your golden retriever.

Shih Tzu are an intelligent dog which takes reasonably well to dog training. The typical nature of the Shih Tzu is friendly, playful, and animated. Not overly ‘yappy’ dogs, most are very alert and will sound the alarm readily, making them reliable watchdogs. Although small, they seem to have no concept of their own size - most Shih Tzu owners describe them as “huge dogs packed into a small body”. Some Shih Tzu are so overconfident that they’ll take on much larger dogs without a second though. Overindulged Shih Tzu can be snappy and arrogant; it’s important that you don’t spoil your Shih Tzu, as they tend to take this as a sign that you’re a weak leader and will try to enforce their rules on you, rather than the other way around!

It’s important that you don’t dole out dog treats too readily - Shih Tzu need to earn their treats. Too many dog treats will not only have an adverse effect on your dog’s health, but will teach him that you’re a soft touch who’s lower down on the pack hierarchy than he is. Your Shi Tzu will respond to you better and be much more content and relaxed if he knows that he can rely on you to act like a leader at all times - this prevents him from having to step up to the mark, instead.

Dog treats are a great way of forming new, positive behaviors for Shih Tzu. For example, using them as rewards during training works especially well on the Shih Tzu, who always appreciates food rewards. Instead of giving him a particular food that is a dog treat, why not get him to learn something new (like going inside his crate on your command) first, before giving him the dog treat. That way he gets the treat, as well as learning a new positive behavior, AND has a positive association with performing that behavior.

Dog leashes, just like collars, are great tools to help you control your Shih Tzu. Dog leashes differ in materials, lengths and styles. When buying leashes, choose which one is right for your Shih Tzu. Chain and woven nylon leashes are strong, however, nylon cannot withstand chewing if your dog is fond of that. It is therefore a great idea to use chain leashes if you haven’t dealt with your dog’s chewing behavior.

Looking for dog treats for Shih Tzu?
We don’t recommend Rawhide dog treats for shih tzu at all. Stay away from rawhides with the shih tzu. Avoid commercially made pig ears and cow ears as well. Pig ears, cow ears or rawhide treats can be dangerous to your shih tzu if those small pieces get hung in their neck or digestive system. You will end up in the emergency vet clinic. Shih Tzu needs natural dog treats. Bully sticks and lamb treats are good for Shih Tzu.

With any dog treat, you need to be careful with the amount you feed to a dog, especially with a dog as tiny as a Shih Tzu. Some uses Nature’s Recipe training treats with her Shih Tzu because they’re nice small, bite-sized treats. Small dog biscuits and bits of raw vegetables, chicken, or hot dogs are favored treats for Shih Tzu. Especially,organic dog biscuits provide provіde more than merely calorіes for your Shih Tzu.

Rawhides are Dangerous for Labrador Retrievers

Labrador Retrievers love to chew and chew they must. Normally I’m all for letting chewing dogs chew but sometimes the chewing can get dangerous. That’s why it’s important to do background on not only the products you allow your dog to put in its mouth but also your dog’s natural chewing behavior – especially when it comes to rawhide bones.

As you can guess, two chocolate Labrador retrievers, Cheyenne and Dakota, proudly own me. They are older pups but that doesn’t make it possible to leave them alone with a bone or chew toy. Even the most distinguished of dogs can get into trouble when left unattended chewing on something. Needless to say, I didn’t leave Dakota unattended and she was still within seconds of losing her life to a rawhide bone.

Dakota, like most Labrador Retrievers love to not only chew but also swallow whatever the can get into their mouths. We liken Dakota to a pelican with a fish. She just tilts her head back and even a whole large banana can be lost in a second – without a single chew.

So it should come as no surprise that Dakota swallowed a 2-inch square piece of rawhide bone while I stood only a few feet from her. She was chewing one second and the next she began to gag slowly. Over the next few seconds, the gagging spasms came quicker and quicker. I knew something was wrong when she slowly made her way to me and tried to hide behind me – still gagging.

Dakota never comes near me to hide unless she or her sister, Cheyenne, are hurt. The fear automatically drives her to seek shelter from my alpha role in the house. I am the mom and I can make anything better.

I have no experience in canine Heimlich Maneuvers but remembered my childhood education classes on children choking. My mind clicked and I grabbed her hind quarters, lifted them in the air so she was almost upside down (for as much as a 140-lb woman can do to a 84-lb dog) and started banging on the side of her ribcage with my open palm. It took 3 swift bangs until the piece of rawhide bone shot onto the floor in front of us.

Immediately, I grabbed the piece from the floor, the rest of the bone and then the bone Cheyenne had been gnawing on – right into the garbage they went without a second glance.

Dakota is fine now. I fed her light that night and had her take it easy but she stuck to me like glue for many hours after.

Would I give a rawhide bone again? Absolutely not! My dogs are sticking to good raw cow bones and maybe a very large bully stick (taken away when it goes too small) every now and then. We could have easily had our first Christmas without our Dakota and I’m not willing to chance her life with another rawhide bone. Sure, she may love them but they are dangerous for heavy chewing dogs like Labrador Retrievers
